Robert F. DeHaan received a Ph. D. from the University of Chicago (1951). His specialties included social psychology, education of the gifted, educational psychology, and programmed instruction. From 1956-1963 he was a professor of psychology at Hope College. In 1963 he took a leave of absence to become Director of the Programmed Instruction Project for the Great Lakes College Association (GLCA).
